What is it?

The Panthenol  is a precursor to pantothenic acid (or vitamin B5), a key ingredient in many skin and hair care cosmetics.

What is this for?

Panthenol has multiple benefits: it is a humectant, meaning it binds and retains water, thereby reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL) to deliver hydration to the skin; it also has soothing and emollient properties that reduce redness and protect the skin from environmental factors and skin stress. Additionally, it stimulates the synthesis of a precursor to fatty acids and sphingolipids, which are essential for forming the lipid bilayer of the stratum corneum, helping to repair the skin barrier.
