Summer Skincare: Tips for the Perfect Beauty Routine Even in Summer

In the morning, it’s important to maximize sun protection, and in the evening, you should hydrate and repair damage from UV rays.

Below is a skincare routine to follow when you go on vacation!

SUMMER BEAUTY ROUTINE: WHAT TO DO IN THE MORNING

CLEANSER

First of all, you need to remove the dirt that has settled on the skin overnight. Any cleanser will do, as long as it is gentle.
It is recommended to use a facial cleanser that removes dirt without stripping the skin of the natural oils it needs to stay hydrated.

ANTIOXIDANT

Choose an antioxidant serum or booster such as one based on Vitamin C, which will help fight free radicals caused by UV rays. Alternatively, you can apply a hydrating serum or booster, such as one based on Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides.

SUN PROTECTION

Choose a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 broad spectrum, which protects against both UVB and UVA rays and is Water Resistant. Don’t forget to apply it every 2 hours, after every swim and/or excessive sweating.

SUMMER BEAUTY ROUTINE: WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENING

DOUBLE CLEANSING

If not much time has passed since the last application of sunscreen, it is best to opt for double cleansing to thoroughly cleanse the skin of sunscreen.
So first apply the oil cleanser, then wet the skin and finally apply the foaming cleanser.

HYDRATING - SOOTHING SERUM

The skin needs hydration and a calming action after a long day at the beach. Choose a product based on Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides or Niacinamide.

FACIAL CREAM

You can apply whichever facial cream you prefer. The important thing is to apply it according to your skin type and specific skin needs.

AND EXFOLIATION?

The skin needs hydration and a calming action after a long day at the beach. Choose a product based on Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides or Niacinamide.

TIP

Last but not least: if you come back from the beach very red*, it is recommended to use only hydrating and soothing active ingredients and put more specific cosmetic treatments on hold for a few days, such as exfoliants, blemish treatments or retinol.

SUMMER SKINCARE FOR OILY SKIN

While we can give general advice for normal skin, that does not mean other routines cannot be followed for skin with specific characteristics. For example, in the case of skin with excess sebum, we can follow a summer skincare routine for oily skin in four easy steps:

  • CLEANSER: In addition to recommending that you try the Korean cleansing method we talked about above, for oily skin the best choice is definitely a cleanser designed for it. Our gentle facial cleanser may be right for you because it helps remove not only makeup and impurities, but also excess sebum.
  • EXFOLIATING TONER: The second step of your summer routine for oily skin is undoubtedly a high-quality toner that, with its astringent, exfoliating and purifying action, can help reduce skin imperfections, preventing enlarged pores and the appearance of pimples.
  • SERUM: When it comes to oily skin, the summer routine should also include the use of a serum. Those with salicylic acid or azelaic acid are perfect because they mattify and help regulate sebum, avoiding shine and leaving skin with a perfect texture.
  • SUN PROTECTION: Finally, once the serum has been applied, in the morning during summer you should never skip an application of sunscreen. Sun exposure can help in the case of oily skin because it helps dry out pimples, but that does not mean you should completely avoid protection, which remains essential. In particular, one consequence of ongoing sun exposure is thickening of the skin and the resulting difficulty for sebum to come out, creating pimples and blackheads.

SUMMER SKINCARE FOR COMBINATION SKIN

So which summer skincare routine for combination skin would be better to use?

First of all, one that takes into account the main characteristic of combination skin, namely that it is not homogeneous and therefore does not suffer from the same problems all over the face. In general, combination skin tends to have excess sebum in the T-zone and to be drier in other areas of the face, such as the sides of the mouth, cheeks and eye contour. For this reason, and especially in summer when warmer, drier weather tends to put more stress on the skin, you need to think of a routine that is firm yet gentle and, above all, takes the characteristics of the different areas of the face into account.

The recommended steps in this case are 2 + 1:

  • CLEANSING: As always, the first step of the routine is cleansing, because it allows us to remove impurities and let the skin breathe both in the morning, removing impurities produced overnight, and in the evening, clearing the face of salt residue and salt water if you have been to the beach, as well as the impurities and sweat typical of the summer period. In this case we recommend a gentle, balancing cleanser for combination skin. If you are looking for one that can help you care for your skin, take a look at our shop.
  • HYDRATION: Since part of the face of those with combination skin suffers from dryness, hydration will be essential. At the same time, care must be taken not to overdo moisturizers in areas that are more oily, so it may also be advisable to try using two separate products, one for each skin type.

  • SUN PROTECTION: To care for combination skin in summer, you should never skip an application of sunscreen that helps keep the skin hydrated and protected, never allowing it to be damaged by excessive exposure.

HOW TO TREAT DRY SKIN AFTER SUMMER

Summer and holidays are wonderful, but unfortunately they do not last forever. And after the stress of exposure to sun, salt and sweat, the skin also needs special care, especially if it suffers from dehydration in other seasons: tanned skin tends to be naturally drier, and without taking the proper precautions there is a risk of making the lack of hydration even worse. That is why rebalancing and taking care of your face even after coming home from holiday is essential. But how do you treat dry skin after summer? Is there a special routine? The key word is hydration, of course; here is which skincare to use to make sure your face feels fresh and relaxed again:

  • CLEANSING: Cleansing with gentle, soothing products;
  • EXFOLIATION: Exfoliation with a very light gentle facial scrub to get rid of dead skin cells and renew the skin;
  • HYDRATION: Maximum hydration with a mask that helps us get back to soft, smooth skin. Not forgetting the rest of the body, thanks to the SKIN FIRST hydrating body cream.
