Summer Skincare: Tips for the Perfect Beauty Routine Even in Summer

In the morning, it’s important to maximize sun protection, and in the evening, you should hydrate and repair damage from UV rays.

Below is a skincare routine to follow when you go on vacation!

SUMMER BEAUTY ROUTINE: WHAT TO DO IN THE MORNING

CLEANSER

First, you need to remove all the dirt that has built up on your Skin overnight. Any gentle cleanser will work perfectly for this.
It is recommended to use a facial cleanser that lifts away dirt without stripping your Skin of the natural oils it needs to stay hydrated.

ANTIOXIDANT

Choose a serum or booster with antioxidant properties, for example formulated with Vitamin C, which will help fight free radicals caused by UV rays. Alternatively, you can apply a hydrating serum or booster, for example formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides.

SUN PROTECTION

Choose a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 broad spectrum, which protects against both UVB and UVA rays and is Water Resistant. Don't forget to reapply every 2 hours, after every swim and/or excessive sweating.

SUMMER BEAUTY ROUTINE: WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENING

DOUBLE CLEANSING

If it hasn’t been long since you last applied sunscreen, it’s best to use the double-cleansing method to thoroughly remove all sun cream from your Skin.
First apply the oily cleanser, then wet your skin, and finally apply the foaming cleanser.

HYDRATING - SOOTHING SERUM

Your Skin needs hydration and soothing care after a long day spent at the beach. Choose a product formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides, or Niacinamide.

FACE CREAM

You can use any face cream you prefer. The key is to pick one suited to your Skin type and your specific skin concerns.

WHAT ABOUT EXFOLIATION?

Your Skin needs hydration and soothing care after a long day spent at the beach. Choose a product formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides, or Niacinamide.

TIP

Last but not least: if you come back from the beach very sunburned*, it is recommended to only use hydrating and soothing active ingredients and pause more specialized cosmetic treatments like exfoliants, blemish treatments or retinol for a few days.

SUMMER SKINCARE FOR OILY SKIN

While we can share general guidelines for normal Skin, that doesn’t mean you can’t adjust your routine if your Skin has specific needs. For example, if your Skin produces excess sebum, you can follow a summer skincare routine for oily Skin in four easy steps:

  • CLEANSER: In addition to trying the Korean cleansing method we mentioned earlier, the absolute best product for oily Skin is a cleanser suited to your needs. Our Gentle Face Cleanser is the right choice for you, as it helps remove not only makeup and impurities, but also excess sebum.
  • EXFOLIATING TONER: The second step in your summer routine for oily Skin is undoubtedly a toner of high quality, which with its astringent, exfoliating and purifying action can help reduce skin imperfections, preventing enlarged pores and breakouts.
  • SERUM: When it comes to oily Skin, your summer routine also needs to include a serum. Formulas with salicylic acid or azelaic acid are ideal, as they mattify the Skin and regulate sebum production, preventing a shiny complexion and leaving you with Skin that has perfectly even texture.
  • SUN PROTECTION: Finally, after applying the serum, summer mornings should never be without a layer of sunscreen. Sun exposure can help with oily Skin, as it dries out breakouts, but that doesn’t mean you can skip sunscreen entirely—it’s still non-negotiable. In fact, prolonged sun exposure can cause your skin to thicken, trapping sebum under the surface and leading to more breakouts and blackheads.

SKINCARE FOR COMBINATION SKIN IN SUMMER

And what summer skincare for combination skin would be best to use?

First and foremost, it must account for the core characteristic of combination Skin types, meaning they are not uniform, so they do not experience the same issues across the entire face. Generally, combination Skin types tend to produce excess sebum in the T-zone and be drier in other facial areas, including the corners of the mouth, cheeks, and Eye Contour Gel. For this reason, especially in summer when hotter, drier weather conditions place additional stress on the Skin, it is necessary to adopt a routine that is effective yet gentle, and that prioritizes addressing the unique needs of every different area of the face.

The recommended steps in this case are 2 + 1:

  • CLEANSING: As always, the first step of any routine is cleansing, because this lets you remove impurities and let your Skin breathe both in the morning—washing away the dirt that builds up overnight—and in the evening, clearing your face of salt residue if you’ve been at the beach, plus the regular sweat and buildup that comes with summer weather. For combination Skin, we recommend a gentle, balancing cleanser. If you’re looking for a product to care for your Skin, check out our shop.
  • HYDRATION: Since part of the face of anyone with Combination skin experiences dryness, hydration will be essential. Similarly, you must take care not to overuse moisturizing creams on areas that are predominantly oily, so it may also be advisable to try using two separate products, one for each Skin type.

  • SUN PROTECTION: To take care of combination skin in summer, you should never skip applying sunscreen that helps keep the skin hydrated and protected, preventing it from being damaged by overly intense sun exposure.

HOW TO TREAT DRY SKIN AFTER SUMMER

Summer and holidays are wonderful, but unfortunately they don’t last forever. After the stress of sun, salt, and sweat exposure, your Skin needs special care, especially if it’s prone to dryness year-round: tanned Skin is typically drier than usual, and without taking the right precautions, you can worsen that lack of hydration. That’s why rebalancing and caring for your face once you’re home from vacation is so important. But how to treat dry skin after summer? Is there a special routine? The key word is obviously hydration; here's the skincare to use to ensure you get back to having a fresh, relaxed face:

  • CLEANSING: Cleansing with gentle, soothing products;
  • EXFOLIATION: Exfoliation with a gentle Face Scrub that’s very lightweight to slough off dead skin cells and regenerate your Skin;
  • HYDRATION: Maximum hydration with a mask that helps us get back to feeling soft and smooth. Don't forget the rest of the body too, thanks to the Hydrating Body Cream SKIN FIRST.
